The Boston Molasses Disaster of 1919
On a blustery January in that fateful year, disaster befell Boston. A massive reservoir filled with sticky, sweet molasses ruptured sending a tidal wave of the thick liquid flowing through the streets. The impact was catastrophic, flattening buildings and burying people in a treacly mire. Dozens of people were killed, and many more were wounded.
